When its cold you think about chocolate

Today it was cold and raining and I was looking for something to do indoors, I rummaged around in my stash and found an old chocolate box left over from Easter . I thought the box was quite natty the way it opened, so I had " saved it for a rainy day" ( sorry that was terrible )

I rolled out some air drying modeling paste and stamped into it, then coloured the paste with some alcohol inks and then misted with black gold Tattered Angels. When that was dry I used a little black rub n buff

In the center I used parts from an old belt , I had been hording along with some Kaisercraft  pearls and Prima Vintage Trinkets.

So what will I use it for ? To store my bling bits in .

My little book project

I thought I would add a few projects that I have done lately, this is a little altered book I finished a few weeks back.
I used a second hand book I found at an opportunity shop for .50 cents, the painted background was painted with acrylic paint, the chipboard gate is from Scrapware and the tree with the little bird house is also Scrapware, the gate was  embossed with copper embossing powder.
And the paper  is some of the Graphic 45 " Once upon a Springtime" collection

Up to now, I have had a " Blog Fairy" (which I am extremely grateful for) enter my posts, so this is my very first .. all by myself entry..so far , so good.
All I need to learn now is how to reply to comments and I might be able to enter this new blogging world

All dressed up .....

I started out by applying air drying modeling paste to the top of the form ( you could use impasto, but I wanted the imprint of the stamping to be bolder)  you don't need any special treatment for the modeling paste to adhere,  its fine to use straight onto the form.

Then with a silicon stamp, press firmly into the paste, I allowed about 15 minutes before I painted the paste with acrylic paint and allowed this to dry over night ( this gave the modeling paste time to dry out completely)

There were a few cracks that developed over night - that's not a problem, you just use a little modeling paste to fill them in so they are not so noticeable, then a quick cover up with your paint on the repaired cracks.

Next  I used gold rub'n buff all over the surface, then sprayed a generous amount of black/gold glimmer mist over the top of the rub 'n buff ( having the rub 'n buff under the glimmer allows the gold to show through the glimmer) , but if you want a bolder gold - glimmer first.

Next I dressed the form with the Glitz Design Afternoon Muse paper and handmade paper flowers.

Thanks for looking

Recipe for success

Created with Kaiser Nan's Kitchen and using a bent spoon as the handle (Yuri Geller eat your heart out) this little recipe folder proved to be a challenge.

Not all mice are pests

I made this cute birthday card using the little field mouse stamp and pens.

Project Play .....

I received my first product from Hobbysew on Thursday and when I opened it was thrilled with all the beautiful goodies it contained.
The Prima Mistables caught my eye first, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it and I feared the Hobbysew bosses had made a terrible mistake putting me on their design team, but with a little reassurance from Helen I started playing and having fun with the products.
First I used  Tattered Angels Glimmer mists to cover the canvas , then liberally misted again with water to dull down the color ( as I was after an aged faded look to my background).

There was a loose thread from the canvas that I pulled off and discovered how easy it was to fray, so I continued to fray the edges ( small warning..fraying the canvas was very addictive and its hard to know when to stop).
I used a little drop of Craft Smart fray stop on the reverse side of each corner to stop any unwanted fraying.
I scanned and printed off an old photo of my mother onto canvas and mounted it onto cream and a blackish green cardstock. I used Tim Holtz distress ink around the edges, using the same card stock I made a smaller mat and put Kaisercraft pearl brads to finish.
The flowers are a layer of three paper flowers glimmer misted and the top layer I had sewn a running stitch around the flower and gathered it up, placing another pearl brad in the center then sparingly I used Tattered Angles Glimmer Glam on the edges of the flowers and misted with Honey dew mist.
The chip board flourishes were embossed first with clear embossing powder, heated then I placed some Tattered Angles Glimmer glaze ( cowboy ) and some perfect peals on the clear embossing, then I used pinches of black embossing powder and sprinkled over the top and reheated the chipboard ( I'm sure this is not a recommended technique...but I was in full play mode by this time).
It was fun to watch the colors bubble up though the black embossing powder and I was quite pleased with the effect.
I glued a flower ribbon to  cream braid ( Hobbysew has a huge range of beautiful trims) and placed it under the photo, cut an old doily in half and used it behind the mats, added a little brown ribbon and some Kaisercraft pearl flourishes and the layout was done.
