Project Play .....

I received my first product from Hobbysew on Thursday and when I opened it was thrilled with all the beautiful goodies it contained.

The Prima Mistables caught my eye first, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it and I feared the Hobbysew bosses had made a terrible mistake putting me on their design team, but with a little reassurance from Helen I started playing and having fun with the products.

First I used  Tattered Angels Glimmer mists to cover the canvas , then liberally misted again with water to dull down the color ( as I was after an aged faded look to my background).

There was a loose thread from the canvas that I pulled off and discovered how easy it was to fray, so I continued to fray the edges ( small warning..fraying the canvas was very addictive and its hard to know when to stop).

I used a little drop of Craft Smart fray stop on the reverse side of each corner to stop any unwanted fraying.

I scanned and printed off an old photo of my mother onto canvas and mounted it onto cream and a blackish green cardstock. I used Tim Holtz distress ink around the edges, using the same card stock I made a smaller mat and put Kaisercraft pearl brads to finish.

The flowers are a layer of three paper flowers glimmer misted and the top layer I had sewn a running stitch around the flower and gathered it up, placing another pearl brad in the center then sparingly I used Tattered Angles Glimmer Glam on the edges of the flowers and misted with Honey dew mist.

The chip board flourishes were embossed first with clear embossing powder, heated then I placed some Tattered Angles Glimmer glaze ( cowboy ) and some perfect peals on the clear embossing, then I used pinches of black embossing powder and sprinkled over the top and reheated the chipboard ( I'm sure this is not a recommended technique...but I was in full play mode by this time).

It was fun to watch the colors bubble up though the black embossing powder and I was quite pleased with the effect.

I glued a flower ribbon to  cream braid ( Hobbysew has a huge range of beautiful trims) and placed it under the photo, cut an old doily in half and used it behind the mats, added a little brown ribbon and some Kaisercraft pearl flourishes and the layout was done.
